What health problems are prematurely born children more likely to have?

My brother's twins were born at 33 weeks, and they had problems with their lungs. Apparently, there is fluid in the lungs, which doesn't develop until week 35, so babies born before this, when they first breathe and the lungs expand, there is no fluid so the lung can collapse.

In saying this, they were both put in incubators and stayed in hospital for 7 weeks but they are 2 next month and doing great. They were very tiny but have caught up in growth and you would never tell that they had any problems or were premature at all. What health problems are prematurely born children more likely to have?My very dear friend gave birth to a preemie. She had lung problems at birth.

Her daughter suffere from asthma her whole life and she now weighs in at about 300 pounds because of thyroid issues. Doctor says the thyroid problem is due to an undeveloped pituitary gland at birth. She will have diabetes soon as well. What health problems are prematurely born children more likely to have?lungs may not be fully developed, may have trouble regulating temperature, may have trouble feeding or keeping food down, they may also have to be hook up to machines in case they stop breathing etc
