Whats wrong with universal health and education?

Many of our allies that are just as advanced as us have universal health and education. Why are all these selfish capatilist who are always waving the flag do not want to educate the children of America.Whats wrong with universal health and education?Big corporations want ignorant labor which is dependent on them for health care.



Big corporations want to keep a monopoly on their business so they fix things so an independent or a small business cannot provide health care to their workers. The workers go to the big corps because they have to in order to be insured.



Universal health care HELPS small businesses. Big capitalists don't like this.



I don't know why anybody thinks it will be more expensive to streamline our current systems which are a bureaucratic nightmare as they are. It will make health care cheaper!



After seeing the private sector work in the housing and stock markets the last year, I don't know why people still have any faith in the free-for-all-market providing fairness or logic.Whats wrong with universal health and education?
Health care like any other economic good is in scarce supply. There must be an equitable way to ration it. Each nation must choose how this is to be done.



Everyone does not agree what minimum every person in the US is entitled to. Everyone does not agree as to what limits there are on entitlement to medical care. The political process is used to determine how the law is to address this.



One idea is to drop the requirement that medical workers be licensed, then everyone would be able to afford someone to work on them. Of course then the poor would get poor care.



As it stands now, free public education is rationed by quality. This is because schools are financed by local taxes and it is difficult to get quality education in areas where local taxes are small.



Do not blame this on capitalists. Capitalists would prefer a huge number of educated workers as this would depress wages. Blame americans who believe that educating their children to the max and having most children poorly educated would lead to a better life for their children. Should they instead accept a marginally poorer education for their children with all children receiving an adequate education? They neglect to consider that the prosperity generated by an educated workforce may benefit their children. This is typical American shortsightedness.



Also, blame is put on the poorly educated as lacking in motivation or being genetically incapable to learning. Most do not believe that raising the educational level of all americans would improve things enough to justify the cost.



You just added a comment about socialism. Socialism is not all or nothing. Regulated capitalism is accepted by most Americans. Although more socialism in the US would cause some problems, there are some real problems that can be solved with a little more of it. Again ... the political process ...Whats wrong with universal health and education?Health and education are different issues.



Let me just talk about health care. The problem in universal health care is a couple things:

1. the cost of universal Healthcare is expensive. So how is this goign to be paid for. Your tax dollar. Or I should said increase in your tax dollars.

2. Its just creating more government. government as is is not very efficient. Whatever they do they add pork to spending bills, and feed special interest groups. Do we really want to see healthcare run by this type of government?

3. Obama keeps saying that the healthcare he plans to offer is the same type of coverage that congressmen and senators are offered. Yet He wont go as far as saying it will be exactly the same plan as these men are offered? Why wont he give us the same plan?

4. If you look at national healthcare programs in other countries like canada and England its just not very good. In england, people using the national healtcare have to sometimes wait months to see a specialist. They're currently working on a bill to lower the wait time to 18 weeks maximum. Thats over 4 months and thats what they are trying to lower it too?

5. Why is the government even getting involve in an issue they dont need to be involved in. No where in the constitution does it say government needs to provide healthcare to all



For these reasons Universal Healthcare is just wasted spending thats democrats bring up to try and seem like they care about the people, when all its really doing is giving them an excuse to tax us, and give the government more power and responsibility, when it cant even handle the issue it has currently anyways.
Personally, I'm not impressed with how the government runs anything now. I'd be afraid to see the quality and speed of health care if the government has any hand in it. Secondly, the majority of children already attend government funded public schools. Ted Kennedy tried to fix the problems with public education by cutting their funding (see: No child left behind act).Whats wrong with universal health and education?Obviously you haven't entered into our public education system otherwise you would not be asking such a ridiculous question...





The education system (and even health care if people REALLY want government run health care) should be left up to the states... they would be better run this way then have yet another federal bureaucracy to have to cut through yet more red tape and more people fall through the cracks... I so agree with you. I am for both. I just spoke to a canadian yesterday who was born in the united states (dual citizenship) and she said she was going to have her baby over in canada and the Only difference is that they don't provide you with a welcome baby gift basket, toothbrush, socks, diapers, etc.



You receive the room, doctors, nurses, and medical care. Just none of the stuff that most of us throw away anyways. Who wouldn't want to get health care when you need it and not have to pay for it and everyone was equal with it.
There is nothing wrong with them....We have alot of Selfish People in this country who don't want to pay for anything other than themselves! HuH! You want to know the GOOD PART? Most of them Call themselves Christians! They aren't really though! In the Bible there is a paragraph that says: It is almost Inpossible for a rich person to enter the gates of Heaven! As difficult as threading a needle! These rich people better have a good time here because heaven is not going to accept them! socialized healthcare is NEVER the answer. if it was so great, then why are people flocking to the USA for medical treatments and procedures? why aren't we all trying to get to Canada and Europe for our procedures if they are so wonderful? the truth is with socialized medicine, people have to wait months and years for procedures to be done. putting the federal government in charge of ANYTHING is a failure, why on earth would you even CONSIDER putting our healthcare in their hands? Congress' approval rating is at what, like 20%??? And you want these incompetent boobs handling your healthcare????????
You are so ignorant! "Universal Healthcare" is a nightmare waiting to happen because health care needs are not "universal". I certainly don't want the gov. to dictate when I can get surgery and which of my meds are "worthy" of the $$?

the universal health care plan does not work!

many countries have it and it is not sucessful in getting healthcare to people...

you have to be on a waiting list every time you go to a doctor, the plan takes too long to be instilled and to work...and it raises taxes...
Public schools are govt run and teachers make nothing so our schools suck. Private institutions don't need govt and kids from all over the world come to these colleges. No govt in Hospitals and we have the best in the world. Govt in police and fire and they make nothing just like teachers see a pattern.
I am a Canadian with universal health care, works for me. I show up at the hospital,give them my card, and in I go. No billing, no co-pays, nobody going bankrupt. I have never waited very long for anything, including specialists or surgery.
How is it working for them??? (government health care)



We are already sending billions of tax dollars down the drain in the name of education. It isn't getting any better. You want to hand it to the same people that created the sub-prime disaster? That's a little insane, ya think??

Universal health in Canada isn't all that great, if you have a surgery you could wait for a year before having it done, ask the Canadians
Obama's plan is the problem. $750/ month per person....would kill lower income American's. That isn't a solution. What would be nice would be a MINIMUM health care plan that can be had for far less money than that.
Simple: This is NOT a socialist country

I pay my own way by going to work - everyone else needs to do the same

Universal healthcare is impractical. The universe is millions of light years across. We do not have the ability to provide healthcare everywhere in the universe.
Because according to Faux News Network that would make us a socialist country, which is only one step away from communism!



It's those ditto heads that will keep our country intellectually inferior for a long time to come.
Nothing, the rich are greedy and wants every one else to suffer.
