What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?

I am Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, first aid, and AED trained. What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?You can't get paid for many, but volunteering in nursing homes is an option. You can also get certified as a Nursing Assistant and be more qualified to volunteer in hospitals guiding families and possibly helping behind the desk. Unfortunately until you are 18 you can't work on an ambulance. Anyone on an ambulance needs training as an EMT because there is really no room for an untrained person, and you need to be 18 and out of highschool to become an EMT.What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?
Kind of late to be asking about summer jobs isn't it? :)

I have to agree with the other posters, there is really not much that you would be allowed to do in a medical setting. Your best bet would be to volunteer at a hospital, where they will have you doing a multitude of tasks, some involving patient contact (delivering flowers, delivering newspapers, pushing wheelchairs etc.). If you were older, and in college you might be able to contact some physicians to assist with research projects and such over the summer, but a sophomore in high school is probably too young.

If you really want to work in a hospital, you can try applying in an ancillary department like transportation or food service. But those types of jobs are hard to come by, as they fill up quickly when open. Getting a job in one of those areas would be easier if you could work during the school year- otherwise it will be tough. About the time you will be getting the hang of the job, you will be quitting because summer is over. What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?Almost certainly nothing, sorry. At your age, there would be nothing you could do related to patient care. But you COULD go down to your local hospital and volunteer your time and services. All patients need little things now and then that overloaded nurses simply don't have time to do. A patient might want a couple of new magazines from the gift shop, or need a toiletry, or would like a newspaper. You can volunteer to help out with that, and put yourself to good use. Meanwhile, you can observe and see what's going on so you become a little more familiar with what goes on in a hospital. What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?
You can volunteer in an old peoples home.. or if you know doctors then ask to shadow them.. or you could do some sort of St. Johns Ambulance thing?

Chances are you're not going to get paid for it though. What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?VOLUNTEER.
