The health insurance companies and the health care providers would have to find a way to make it all work..........that is if they want to stay in business. The big winner? citizens !!!!!!What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults?I'm speechless. If you're willing to do a little work instead of taking cues from Olbermann and others, I suggest you enroll yourself in an Econ 101 class. This question will be answered 100 times over. What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults?
That's called price fixing and it doesn't work.
What happens when the health insurance company finds itself obligated to pay more for care than it takes in? The company will go belly up, and none of its customers will be served. What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults? That's a great plan... except for ONE SMALL DETAIL.
That way - the government DOESN'T get control of and additional 1/6 of the American Economy - and the corresponding control over people's lives and choices.
That's what OBAMA CARE is all about.
Price fixing has been proven to fail time and time again.... The US postage was once set at a certain price..and since then its gone up how many times? What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults? If "ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have wonderful Christmas" that is a pipe dream theory that is not in the least possible. What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults?
It also would not be this little because we have to pay for the illegals and their kids...........welfare too.
Sounds great. free lolly pops are good too.
You need to apply some economics.
What if the government simply said a car cannot cost more than $5,000?
How many would line up to build that car? How soon could you get one? what would your choices be?What if the government simply said health insurance cannot cost more than $150 per month for adults?
They would just go out of business.
Since there is no way to provide the services required, with that amount of money.
That would be like telling Ford, they had to sell cars for $5,000
They cannot do it, it cost more than that to buy the parts and pay the wages of those who build the cars.
NOTE: most adults with company paid health insurance, already pay less than $150 per month, since the company pays the majority of their health insurance cost.
You cannot mandate that companies or people have to lose money to provide services.
They would all just go out of business.
Someone always has to pay the true cost.
My question is why do we even need these for profit health insurance companies. Exactly what do they do? They take $.43 out of every premium dollar for overhead and profit. Exactly how does that make insurance affordable? It doesn't. To make a profit a for profit insurance company has to deny as many claims as possible and enforce underwriting rules that prevent anyone who might cost the company anything out of the system. People without insurance must be so poor that they qualify for Medicaid....but of course the hoops you have to jump through to get even that kind of coverage is a lot more than most people are capable of doing. So, the insurance companies make money, and everyone else is screwed. What's really sick is that the taxpayers, many of them uninsured themselves but not poor enough to get Medicaid, pay taxes so other people can have health insurance on the public nickle. This is a criminal system. We need a universal non-profit, premium and tax supported system so every American has HEALTH INSURANCE, No other system will work. Medicare costs 3 cents per premium dollar for overhead with NO profit....none needed! Every argument against Universal Health Insurance is totally bogus. The current system is no more than a protection racket....you pay, but you get no protection!
Of course all the doctors would quit and become lawyers to make more money.
So, what you want is a government controlled monopoly?
The best thing for everyone is fair competition, not fixed values set by elected officials that don't know jack about saving lives.
I'm for it,
but on $150 a month, the insurance companies couldnt pay their CEOs hundreds of millions of dollars per year
