What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts?

One would think that because of their vulnerability, they would wear more protective clothing on their nether parts. But no, they ended up wearing skirts which are very susceptible to the vagaries of wind, terrain not to mention unwelcome stares and touches. I prefer answers based on physiology and psychology. No flippant wiseacre answers please. What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts?short history of pants - pants were invented by the first nomadic tribes that domesticated horses. they lived between the Black and the Caspian seas. it is much easier to ride a horse, and battle against people who can't ride horses when wearing the "new fangled invention" of pants instead of skirts. Becasue before then (and even now in places like scotland and sri lanka) everyone wore pants.

picture a battle scene where one side was on foot and the other side was on horseback. who wins?

From that time until now: pants = power.

It's not that women chose to wear dresses over pants, it's just that pants entered societies via the powerful men who could afford to buy a horse instead of worrying only about subsistence agriculture or whatnot.

Due to ingrained "inter-cultural" misogyny, women were not able to own property (horses). Then it became culturally strange for anyone besides men, whether they owned horses or not, to wear pants.

Sorry to waste your time as the answer is not to do with physiology, but I was just throwing it out there. What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts?
Traditional clothing such as skirts and dresses is what they are used to wearing--it's what they wore in their homeland. they probably think that women in pants are being strange. There may also be some religious beliefs involved too.

BTW if they wear underwear, their nether parts are not that vulnerable. I don't understand your comment about stares and touches--do you see intercultural women wearing provocative, revealing skirts a lot? What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts? To answer this question in an intelligent fashion, one must ask, what is an inter-culturally woman? What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts?
Ease of peeing is my guess. Lift and go.What are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts? Are you suggesting that people who are not of mixed race dont gravitate to wearing skirts? Hmm . ..maybe so. I'm about 9 different ones at least supposedly and I definitely prefer skirts. I hate pants. I dont know if you mean short skirts as women who hunt are supposed to have worn? It would be more difficult to hunt in a long skirt .. .it would get caught on branches and thorns. Is anyone just one cultural group anymore--I thought everyone was mixed these daysWhat are the reasons why inter-culturally women generally gravitated to wearing skirts?
In many cultures woman are not allowed to wear pants(like jeans) I have no idea why. Dont forget that in the images you see in Jesus's time everyone wore dress like tunics. I think the reason was to cover their nakedness more than functional. Have you seen pictures of people wading through water with long skirts/tunics

Nowadays skirts (especially long skirts) are seeen as more feminine, and the only men wearing skirtlike oufits are Muslim men and Sheiks from UAE and Arab desert like countries.

I suppose the practicalities of wearing "skirts" in a desert environment are that you can shake out the sand easier and possibly and other bug that may have crawled in for protection

In many African countries skirts have to be worn by woman. That why you see the poorest countries on the news and woman are sitting in dirt in their skirts. If they were to wear pants they would get "unwelcome stares and touches"

Possibly in the beginning, skirts were the easiest clothing item to construct (with no sewing machines etc) with animal skins.
