1) There is a difference between causing poverty and allowing poverty, although the Gospels indicate that God condemns people for either action.



2) It sounds as if you're assuming that the only way to feed the hungry and heal the sick is via the government taxing and distributing. However, we should be doing that on our own instead of needing the government to make us do it. By the way, you may want to look at charitable giving between liberals and conservatives. Conservatives help little children with their own money.
