Just google the topic and do your own homework. What are some of the Factors and Health Consequences of Childhood Obesity.?I am 36 years old. I remember when I was a child we played outside, we built forts, rode bikes, ran around. When our Moms called us into dinner we complained and begged for more time outside. To get a child to play outside now a days takes an act of God. They are planted in front of the TV set starting at an early age, when they are old enough they are given nintendos, gameboys x boxes etc. Get a little older they are given computers. I remember getting a bike for Christmas was the coolest thing that we could get as a kid. Now, it is cell phone, ipods, games etc. Going to McDonalds was an event. It wasn't something that was done everyday or every week sometimes not even every month. We sat down at the dinner table as a family and had well balanced meals. All of these things have changed. All of these contribute to children being over weight.
As for health issues. I recently witnessed an accident since I was there I assisted the accident victims. One of them was a 17 year old boy. When the emts asked him if he was taking medication he told them that he was on Cholestrol medication and high blood pressure medication. He was a big boy not morbidly obese but over weight. I was shocked that someone that young would be on these medications. I have sinced learned that children even younger than him are on the same medications that a 30,40 and above old person is taking. Diabeties. My husband was diagnoised with this 2 years ago. Thankfully with a year on medication and loss of weight he no longer has diabities. He continues to take a multibetic viatimin and watches what he eats but he no longer has to take his blood, or prescribed medication. More and more children each year are being diagnoised with this dreadful disease. Uncontrolled it leads to amputations, organ failures, and sometimes death.
We need to get our children back outside. Get them moving and away from the tvs, computers, and game stations. We need to start feeding them healthier meals and stop relying on fast food and snacks to get them by.
