I mean, do you really understand?
No stupid uneducated political crap please. Honest debate here
Republicans really hate that part of the bill. But, there is a good reason for it.
By keeping Americans with pre-existing conditions insured and not letting health insurance companies cherry pick the healthy and drop families with a sick family member, they left an opening for cheaters.
A cheater would NOT buy health care until they were sick and then take advantage of the pre-existing condition clause to buy health insurance as needed.
There are other alternatives to forcing everybody to buy insurance but none of them are any more attractive. Should we deny emergency care to people without health care (i.e. People that refused to buy insurance). If so, how do we identify a critically injured person brought to the hospital that chose no health care and is society ok letting them die (or going after their assets to pay). Is society ok with letting a child die that is part of a family whose parents denied to purchase health care?
Oddly, I heard a Republican Senator indicating that their plan also has a pre-existing condition safeguard. But, he did not give any details on how he intends on avoiding this problem.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law?The only way the insurance companies can afford to provide the extra coverage (pre-existing conditions, older children, preventive care, etc) without huge premium increases is to have more people who will not be using the insurance much paying premiums.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law?
Yes, I do. I already pay extra for cover people without insurance. With the mandate, the extra will be less.
In the United States, health insurance is a private good. In other countries, health insurance is more like a public good. Health insurance should be a public good. Even if we force young healthy people to buy health insurance, because of the nature of the product, the average price of the product is lower especially for the people who need it the most.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law?I have a perfect solution: insurance companies (private corporations) can choose to insure whoever they want to. The government has no business forcing insurance companies to insure people with pre-existing conditions.
Should life insurance companies be forced to sell to terminally ill people?
So, please tell me why a person like me, who has been paying for their health care out of pocket for 12 years, BY CHOICE, should be forced to purchase a product they have no need to use and no desire to use.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law? That's exactly the point. Why not wait till i'm sick to buy insurance? You need to close such a loop hole for the cheaters.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law?
Wasn't that the compromise with the Insurance Lobbyists so they wouldn't campaign against it like the Clinton Years?
yep.Do you understand WHY the Democrats implemented the forced insurance clause of the health law?
It is understandable that the cheats would squeal the loudest. It's similar to the required 1099 reporting in 2012--the cash-basis society will be revealed and then taxed.
You won't get any detail from any republican for health care proposals. The PPACA was based on a lot of republican proposals, and they failed to make meaningful contributions in 2009 and 2010, when this was hashed out.
So, do not expect any republican to present anything of substance. In fact, I bet by this time next month health care reform will be a moot point, a posture created to be called forth for the 2012 elections.
And to that lady who has been paying her medical costs out of pocket for 12 years, it's clear that you are single and lucky. Can you guarantee you will be able to pay your health care costs for the next 12 years? How about for the next 36 years? Get married, have children, grow older and dare to come back here and make your claim.
Besides, you don't walk this earth alone, lady. Have you paid the medical costs for all the people YOU have harmed, either by passing along a virus, or failing to wash your hands and sickening the people you served food to, or for those STDs you passed along in your High School days? No, you didn't pay squat for the care of the others you made ill, but if you carried insurance, you'd be protected from all the other humans who might make you ill.
