How much do you pay for individual/family health insurance?

At my work I only pay 67.34 a month for health insurance. It is just me, single. Awesome insurance, no deductible, low co-pays etc. VERY lucky. However, if I had 1 spouse it sky rockets to 447.71 a month, and a family, any size would be 877.11 a month. (Great deal if you have 5 kids, not so great with 1 child)

Is everyone's insurance like this???How much do you pay for individual/family health insurance? For my family, we pay almost $700 a month - and the employer picks up the REST of the tab. A typical premium for a low/no deductible plan, through a group, for a family, with maternity benefits, is going to be around $1800 a month in most states.

The reason it skyrockets, is because most employers will pay a larger percentage of the insurance cost for the employee - in your case, it sounds like 80% to 90% - but they'll be kicking in only 50% for your spouse and children.

It's still WAY cheaper than buying private insurance, and you won't find maternity benefits on private insurance any more, either. How much do you pay for individual/family health insurance? The employers participation in the cost of health insurance is completely an individual decision. You can run the gamut from the employer not providing any insurance whatsoever to the employer paying 100% of the cost and every conceivable arrangement in between.

In your case it would appear that the employer agrees to pay the bulk of the premium for a single enrolee but you have to pay most if not all of the premium if you want to add a spouse or family.

Is this the way everyone's insurance is arranged? There are as many ways that employers pay as there are employers. How much do you pay for individual/family health insurance?I pay between $100 and $110 per month, because my insurance is not from an employer.

The price that an insurance company charges for insurance through an employer is approximately $400 per month, so $877.11 for a family with one child and two parents is a great deal (because the insurance company is charging at least $1200, so you are actually get it for less than it costs, because the employer is paying part of the bill). Similarly, $447.71 per month for you and your spouse is almost $400 less than what the insurance company charges (the employer is paying almost half the bill).

If your spouse and children qualify, they may be able to get insurance directly from an insurance company, without going through your employer, for much less money, perhaps as low as what I am paying. How much do you pay for individual/family health insurance?
