this is how he is
VERY hyper.. moves non stop climbs, jumps, fidgets..
Very loud Even talking he is very very loud and he does not stop talking
makes random noises .. he will sit there and make these random clicking noises for hours and will not stop
cannot focus he cannot sit still and focus on an activity not even video games
the only thing he can focus on is trains and buses he can talk about trains and buses for hours
he has train tracks he puts together and takes apart repetitively. without playing with the actual train
he has named the buses after Thomas the tank engine ( the show he obsesses about) he also knows every single bus route and bus off by heart ( even ones we barely take) he can tell you anything about our city's bus system.
he is very aggressive anything can set him off even silly things he hit kicks punches .. he will even try and find objects to hit you with
when he is in trouble or corrected on a behavior he doesn't seem to understand what he is doing is wrong no matter how you tell him or how many ways you tell him he just doesn't get it
for example he knows colouring on the wall is wrong he can lose his crayons for a week then as soon as he gets them back he does it again ( thats just an example) like he just doesn't grasp the concept.
he has NO concept of personal space including talking to strangers again no matter how many times we tell him its unsafe and explain it to him he doesn't get it .he is very touchy with people he knows and doesn't understand when he is too close or when people have had enough touching
he repeats words over and over again like the word chicken he would say it over and over again
he has an imaginary friend ( yes I know its normal) BUT he chooses to play with his imaginary friend he will go to random people ( or children) and interrupt conversations and keep talking to them despite being told enough.
he does not grasp the concept of a joke or sarcasm (example he cut his foot open and to make light of the situation my husband pretended to cut his foot off he used strawberry jam and was hopping around and such it was funny and most kids ( yes ones that I know would have laughed and had been distracted) but he became very distraught over the situation
there is more but thats the basics
thanksChild with mental health issues any ideas?I hear you. It's frustrating, confusing, exhausting for you and him too. You are on the right track by not giving up. I have worked with many children with severe issues and you need all the support you can get, for him and for you too. Find a counsellor you can talk to, your pastor, close friends, agencies that support families, web sites, whatever support you can find. You will find a listening ear, current information, people struggling with similar concerns. Good luck.Child with mental health issues any ideas?http://borntoexplore.org/compare.htmChild with mental health issues any ideas?Based on what info you have given, its apparent that your child has a form of Attention Deficit Disorder and Severe Autism, he will need lots of professional help, and will never be normal, I had a neighbors kid that is the same way, and needed medication, he has gotten a little better than he was originally. If you have the funding, you might want to consult a alternative health doctor, or an allergist, some kids behavior is associated with food allergies, and they have great personality changes once there diet is changed. You never know sometimes children have been misdiagnosed due to food allergies.Child with mental health issues any ideas?
Are you treating your child like he is bad... like he is different? If you are treating him like his symptoms are bad you are teaching him that he is a bad child. I don't want to say you are a Hypocondriac that has pushed her issue of anxiety onto her child, but your vent seems more like an attempt to prove that he is sick than a attempt for advice as to what to do with your child to make life easier.
Is your child in 1st grade yet? 6 is the starting point. You need to get your child into a special assistance school that can help your child manuver successfully through society and gain the education and tools he needs. They will also assist and guide you as to what you should be doing. The diagnosis won't give you anything. The doctor could tell you any of the mental disorders in your list, but the only tool they could offer is medicine and therapy. You need social tools not medical terms. You need help to help him.
