My husband and I are members of BlueCross BlueShield and did not receive maternity during my pregnancy. I am due in May and I wondered if there was something we needed to do when the child was born in order to establish insurance for her Dr. appointments afterward? I know I could call the company itself but you know how that goes...just wanted to see if anyone actually knew before I went through that hassle. Ugh I hate health insurance...How do you add a newborn to your health insurance?There are two things you may need to do:
1 - Contact blue cross within 30 days of the birth of your child;
2 - Provide proof that creditable coverage during the entire span of your pregnancy.
If your child is healthy there should not be any problems. However if there are health issues Blue Cross may want to know that you had health insurance in place before and during your pregnancy.How do you add a newborn to your health insurance?It's not that much of a hassle. All you need to do is call customer service after the birth but within 30 days of the birth.
